Portrayal of William Wallace and Robert the Bruce (Braveheart, 1995)
TO KINDRED SAINTS Among Josephite, Brighamite, Rigdonite-bickertonite, Hedrickite, Fettingite, strangite, cutlerite, AND all restoration branches of the church OF CHRIST - the dispersed of zion:
We seek here in the spirit
of reunion, a new correspondence with our Brothers and Sisters...
Saints who
know and worship the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior and Redeemer—the Eternal God;
who manifest in their words and works the justice of the Father, the mercy of
the Son, and the power of the Holy Ghost.
Saints who receive Joseph Smith, Jr., as choice Prophet, Seer, Revelator and
Translator to this generation; who embrace the Prophet's early visions and
visitations, his divine commission to translate the Book of Mormon, his reception
of holy priesthoods between 1829-1831, his organization of the Church of Christ
in 1830, and the continuation of the blessings of God to him according to his
faithfulness.
Saints baptized unto
repentance and reborn in the Spirit, ordained to a holy priesthood as appointed, and consecrated to offices of
service among their several branches; who trace regular lines of authority by the laying on of hands through the Prophet Joseph Smith and those
appointed to the ministry with him.
Saints who bear testimony of
the Book of Mormon as the revealed word of God and worthy companion scripture
to the Inspired Version of the Holy Bible; which correct translations of
scripture constitute the fullness of the Gospel of Christ.
Saints who accept the practical
revelations and communications published openly to the Church by the Prophet
Joseph and his associates in the Presidency of the High Priesthood, in particular those ratified by the common consent of the Church prior to the
1838 dispersion of Zion: to include the Book of Commandments - 1833
Ed. and the Doctrine and Covenants - 1835 Ed.
Saints who reject the practice
of plural marriage as contrary to the standing "Law of the Church"
revealed in 1831 (Book of Commandments - 1833 Ed., Ch. 44:21-23; Doctrine and
Covenants - 1835 Ed., Sec. 13:7; Doctrine and Covenants - Current LDS Ed., Sec.
42:21-26; Doctrine and Covenants - RLDS Restoration Branch Ed., Sec. 42:7c-e);
the "Article on Marriage" ratified in the conference of 1835
(Doctrine and Covenants - 1835 Ed., Sec. 101; Doctrine and Covenants - RLDS
Restoration Branch Ed., Sec. 111); the admonitions of Jacob in the Book of
Mormon (Jacob 2:23-28); and all published sworn statements of Church leadership
prior to the 1844 deaths of the Prophets.
Saints who reject the practices of loyalty oaths and mysterious rites with penalties of violence akin to the secret combinations of old (Inspired Version
of the Holy Bible - RLDS Restoration Branch Ed, Genesis 5:14-39; Pearl of Great
Price - Current LDS Ed., Moses 5:29-51); such oaths being contrary to the open
fellowship of the Gospel advocated by Christ (Matthew 5:33-47), the warnings of
the Book of Mormon prophets to the Gentile Church (2 Nephi 26:21-22; Mormon
8:25-28; Ether 8:13-24), and the communal nature of temple worship first
affirmed by Divine manifestations in this dispensation (Temple Dedicatory
Prayer by the Prophet Joseph Smith at Kirtland, Ohio, March 27, 1836; Doctrine
and Covenants - Current LDS Ed., Sec. 109:24-29).
Saints who seek the Baptism of Fire, Second Comforter, and Sealing spoken of in Holy
Scripture (Luke 3:16; John 6:26-27; John 14:15-23; Ephesians 1:12-14;
Ephesians 4:30-32; 2 Timothy 2:19; 2 Nephi 31:13-14; Helaman 5:42-47; 3 Nephi
12:1-2; Mosiah 5:15; Doctrine and Covenants - 1835 Ed., Sec. 7:1-2; Doctrine and
Covenants - Current LDS Ed., Sec. 88:1-5; Doctrine and Covenants - RLDS
Restoration Branch Ed., Sec. 85:1a-2a).
Saints who exercise faith in the name of Jesus Christ to minister healing, providence,
and peace to the souls, families, and communities in their midst; who labor in
earnest to re-establish the Zion of our God.
To THE Descendants of INDIGENOUS PEOPLES of THE AmericaS—heirs to the covenants of God recorded in the book of Mormon;
To the seed of judah and dispersed tribes of Israel who seek the Messiah—heirs to the covenants of God recorded in the torah;
To the pure in heart OF THE GENTILE CHURCH who wait upon the lord:
LET US UNITE.

I believe the key to uniting different groups of the restoration is the Book of Mormon, and heeding what it says instead of the traditions we grew up with.

I highly recommend this book about God’s dealings in various restoration churches.
